Why such contrasting principles?

Nike says it's "deeply concerned" over an allegation against Cristiano Ronaldo about a decade old incident accusing him of rape in Las Vegas and will "closely monitor the situation" as Ronaldo wears Nike boots and appears in Nike commercials.

However ..... Israel's long list of military hardware and armored bulldozers made in U.S. and Britain routinely used for killing Palestinian civilians and demolishing their homes has never been met with a shred of remorse by any of their manufacturers. Toyota and Hyundai trucks have been Al-Qaeda's favorite picks since the past seven years for transportation in proxy war zones. Yet Japanese and South Korean automobile industries continue to flourish.   There are umpteen examples of industrialists' complacency minting money at the cost of blood, misery and hunger.   But human life is cheap and drab;  scandal-mongering is marketable and exciting.   The duplicity in values is head spinning!

By the way, the accusation replete with gold diggers' fingerprints comes abruptly at a very convenient moment ... only two months after Ronaldo gets $340 million richer accepting a 4-year contract with Italian soccer club, Juventus.
