Exactly 9 years ago on 12 March 2006, Abeer was gang-raped and murdered by five US marines in Mahmoudiya, Iraq, at age 14. They also shot and killed Abeer's parents and her little sister and burned their home. None of the criminals were awarded the capital punishment. The ring leader, Steven Dale Green, feigned insanity and it was accepted. This sadistic demon was found hanged in his prison cell in February 2014 assumed to be suicide.
"From the massacre at Mai Lai to the rape and murder of Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi and her family, this is a pattern as old as imperialism itself. Rather than being an “unfortunate incidents” carried out by “bad apples” rape in war serves an important function to imperialism. It serves to make clear the dominating position of the occupiers over the bodies and minds of the occupied." - 'The Inevitability of Sexual Violence in Imperialism' (The Red Phoenix)
Video in memory of beautiful little Abeer.
Poem dedicated to Abeer by Mariacarmela Ribecco at Youtube:
"Fables are dip into dust
by violence that waste diaries
A porcelein doll falls down
and a foot stomp the dignity, the ingenuity, the hope.
The door opens with anger
and I feel your fear on my skin.
Your silent screams start to touch,
the tears drain away into the pain
and the violence consumes, oxidize the spirit.
....... The whiskey smell on the clothes, in the sighs
Feel the filthy sex's smell, the legs are tied ....
outraged by unknown pleasure. ..........
Remain the silence on that bed that pick up a body.
The curious hands go away,
the eyes are open wide on the ceiling are extinguished.
The shoot, the silence, the flames ....
In Mahmoudiya we can't breathe no more,
we can't sleep no more,
we can't live no more."

This incident breaks, nay grinds, my heart into bits. Sweet little Abeer, may Allah The Almighty grant you the best spot in Paradise along with your dear parents and dear lil sister. Dear Abeer, may you and your family hear the cries of that devil, Steven Green, as he must be burning in Hell at the moment .... InshAllah.
