Sheikh Zakzaky

Images show recently a huge crowd in Turkey demonstrating to free Shiia Muslim leader of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

A very soft spoken and well-read person, he has been incarcerated since Dec. 2015 in harsh prison conditions. When the Nigerian army raided his residence, he was seriously injured, several of his family members were killed including 6 sons, a sister and a nephew along with hundreds of his followers. Later his house was demolished. His mother's grave was also destroyed. Sheikh Zakzaky is presently in very poor health and the glaucoma in his eyes is advancing. He isn't receiving any treatments in prison. He needs to be freed immediately. The Nigerian military and government have been astonishingly brutal. It's a very heartbreaking story, reminiscent of the tragic story of Sheikh Baqer al-Nimr and his comrades.
The gesture of solidarity demonstrated by the people of Turkey is indeed laudable. Allah bless.
We pray to The Almighty for the release of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky who never hurt anyone, other than his opponents' fear of his rising popularity.
