On February of 2013, FSA and al-Nusra raided al-Quseir, captured the
city's security headquarters, killed six military officers, 20 Syrian
soldiers, then captured the town hall and a hospital, targeting many
other government installations. By the first week of April 2013, the
Syrian Army prepared to retake Quseir held by the terrorists. The
battle steadily went against the terrorists.
At present, cornered and trapped at al-Quseir, the commander and spokesman of FSA has devised a new trick to acquire international sympathy and gain support for Libya-style no-fly zone bombing of Syria. In a state of panic, Colonel Abdel-Hamid Zakaria, FSA spokesman in Turkey, has lost his mind altogether. He calls out claiming "communities inhabited by Shiite Muslims and President Bashar al-Assad’s Alawite minority will be wiped off the map if the strategic city of al-Qusair in central Syria falls to government troops." Since when did Abdel Hamid Zakaria become so compassionate towards the Alawite Shiites? Since when did Syria's Alawite Shiia community become the target of President Bashar al-Assad who is himself an Alawite? Mr. Zakaria doesn't even have the brain to construct deceit intelligently.
The world's biggest mythomaniac and fabricator, and John McCain's buddy, FSA commander Salim Idris is itching for US/NATO intervention in Syria by claiming, quote: "forty thousand Syrian civilians trapped inside Qusair are facing a possible massacre should the besieged town fall to its attackers."
THE TRUTH: No civilian massacres have occurred in al-Quseir since the Syrian Army stepped in last April. The presence of the Syrian Army has helped thousands of Quseir residents to leave in their protection. Few Syrian rebels in Quseir voluntarily surrendered their weapons and moved out without resistance. Some Quseir residents are trapped by the terrorists who are using them as human shields.
This was also confirmed by the Syrian ambassador at the UN, Faysal Khabbaz Hamaoui, as well as Alaa Ebrahim, freelance reporter from Damascus covering the Battle of Quseir. Ebrahim reported: "Qusair – Eastern neighborhood route still open for remaining civilians who wish to leave under SAA control."
