Day of Eternal Shame for US Administration

While US celebrates its independence day on July 4, Iran commemorates July 3rd as Day of Eternal Shame for US administration when  USS Vincennes shot down an Iranian commercial airliner Flight 655 killing all 290 passengers (including 66 children) on board in 1988.

Of course, the shoot down was deliberate.  When George Bush Sr. was running to succeed Reagan, he said during his election campaign "I will never apologize for the United States -I don't care what the facts are."  Iran was preparing to take the case into the International Court of Justice.  In 1996 during Clinton's second term, his administration expressed regret and paid the Iranian government a compensation of $130 million of which 60 million was given to the victims' families, in exchange for Tehran to drop the case.
