Destroying Syria was such fun for Western powers, but rebuilding isn't

Reconstruction in Syria will cost a massive $250 billion.  Western governments spent billions of dollars for 7 years supplying tons of military hardware to AQ terrorists.  But now they are wrangling away who should foot the bill and a gross picture is in the making .. approved by the cabal of dissidents who fled the country.

At least 50% of death and destruction in this war was perpetrated by the terrorists using foreign weapons, but according to propagandists the 'Syrian government bombed and killed half a million.'  The story is further exploited telling the world that since Assad killed half a million with the help of Iran causing staggering destruction, should the West support to finance the reconstruction in Syria or would that be tantamount to assisting "the dictator" and "terrorist Iran"?

Furthermore, while Assad has explicitly stated he prefers giving reconstruction contracts to Russian firms and not European companies, Putin has expressed neither gratitude nor appreciation for that.    Germany presently hosts 1 million Syrians who fled the war.   Putin has grabbed the opportunity to play the refugee card as an incentive, persuading Germany to  administer EU reconstruction deals in Syria and consequently getting rid of the refugees at the earliest, sending them back home.

Putin's concern in this war was never the welfare of Syria.    Syria, Iraq and eastern Turkey were so full of armed AQ fighters (many of them Chechens) that the tiny stretches of Azerbaijan and Georgia would hardly serve as roadblocks preventing them establishing a base in Chechnya - the doorstep of Russia.  That was Putin's only concern.  With that threat almost over, Putin doesn't want to be seen as Assad's ally on the international stage as that would damage his relations with Israel and US.

The goal of all foreign powers from the beginning was to simultaneously retain their cake and eat it too.  They finally proved it.
