Lebanon: A Government turned Mafia

Riad Salameh came in 1993 as Governor of Lebanon’s State Bank when he was 42.  He is now 72.  His secret money-making machine ran berserk for 30 years dragging Lebanon to the point of bankruptcy .. the country’s worst financial crisis ever in history.  Recently after announcing he intends to step down, the man disappeared, his whereabouts unknown.  Along with his brother and an assistant, Riad Salameh has been involved in embezzlement, money laundering, forgery, tax evasion .. you name it.  With this ongoing thievery since over 30 years, at present the value of Lebanese currency has crashed 90%. Out of Lebanon’s total population of 6 million, 4 million live in poverty (that is, two-thirds of the populace).  Understandably, no outside powers are interfering.  Everything is as the Western establishment wishes .. Lebanon sinking into bankruptcy.  All top Lebanese politicians with Salameh as their “mafia” chief ganged up to rob the country blind.  Riad Salemeh permitted and supervised all illegal deals and massive corruption of the Lebanese elites.  Currently the elites will do anything to protect him.  Briefly, Salameh is the mobs’  “book keeper,” if he goes down, all elite criminals go down.  As the Lebanese people say, “it’s a theatrical performance, a very bad one that's not worth the popcorn.”

Just imagine, if any government officials in Iran behaved as despicably as the Lebanese politicians, the Western establishment would be busy with its convincing propaganda campaign around the world to invade Iran with hair-raising rhetoric.
