Hadith on wudu washing away sins - I'm speechless on this one!

By Sister Heba - Muslim Villa

The Noble Quran has made it ample clear that wudu or ablution is only for the purpose of making yourself physically clean prior to prayer.

Yet, I don't know how, Hadith comes up with a wicked tale that washing yourself with water during wudu also washes away your sins.   That's how easy it is according to the ignorance of Hadith to attain piety.

“Abu Huraira reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When a bondsman-a Muslim or a believer-washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes, will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water or with the last drop of water with the result that he comes out pure from all sins." (Muslim Book 2, Number 475)

“Usman b. ‘Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him) said: He who performed ablution well, his sins would come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails." (Muslim Book 2, Number 476)

“Ablution removes the sins of the face, mouth, and the nostrils…(Sahih Muslim, 4.1812)"

It's also shameful that one such false Ahadith has labelled Usman bin Affan as the narrator which is a total lie.  Usman was the third righteous Caliph and never indulged in such nonsensical and sinful talks.

Now, what's really bad is that such disgusting Hadiths have had a shattering effect on the the morals of many Muslims.  Several staunch Hadith followers are seriously convinced that no matter what violations they commit, after they perform ablution, all of their Haram acts are erased.  Bird brained idiots!   Or should I say, selfish devils.  Many of these guys, even if they realize the extreme stupidity of such Ahadith, will still adhere to them and support them because they condone their Haram behaviour and make life more enjoyable for them.  These lies have made it simple for those who follow Shaitan to make light of their sins.  These lies mock the Noble Quran which gives so much importance to high morals and modesty.  These terrible lies deride the exemplary character and high morals of our beloved Prophet (pbuh).  InshAllah, Allah will deal with all such hoodlums and liars on the Day of Judgment who invent these lies against Allah and His Messenger and propagate falsehood, inviting humanity to darkness from light.

I was shocked and left speechless after reading the following excerpt in a Hadith follower's website.  Please know, the person who wrote this isn't kidding, he really believes it's correct:

QUOTE
The most important reward from ablution is that it is a cleansing process—not for the body itself, for, even after ablution plenty of dirt and pollution might stay in the body, but from all sins. In reality, a Muslim can commit any number of sins, and just by performing ablution all the sins committed prior to ablution will be expiated. Sahih Muslim (2.0476) writes that if you perform ablution all sins will come out of your body even from your nails. To entice the Muslims to the complete surrender to this endless daily ritual, Sahih Bukhari (1.4.161) writes that if a Muslim performs perfect ablution Allah forgives sins committed between two prayers. In Sahih Muslim (2.0475) we read that during ablution Allah forgives all sins (committed by eyes) for washing eyes. Ditto for hands, and other parts of the body.

The above few sentences will explain why many Muslim students/residents in non Muslim countries such as Australia, USA, Canada…and so on demand exclusive ablution facilities in campuses and in other public toilets. They want to do perfect ablution so that whatever sins they commit in infidel lands, such as doing sex with boy friend (infidel), girl friend (infidel), visiting brothels, watching pornography, drinking wine, eating non halal food, joining disco dancing, enjoying infidel parties. Having committed such sins, all they need is to perform a perfect ablution within twenty four hours to absolve themselves from the contrition. Then they can start all over again.

Mind you, the ritual of ablution does not always end with prayer. In Sunaan Abu Dawud (1.1.0220) we read that one must perform ablution between two sexual intercourses.

This made my head spin like a top.  But at least now I know why the wrath of Allah Almighty is upon this accursed Ummah.

  1. Wicked and preposterous!! total crap that can only attract filthy flies.

So this means that everyday they commit sins and every following day they "start all over again" only to commit the same sins all over again and that becomes a cycle. For this hadith, Bukhari's student, Muslim bin Hajaj should have been severely punished. He must have himself been a fornicator and is trying to acquire comfort in his own lies. Disgusting.

Taubah! obviously what Abu Dawud is trying to say is that if anyone commits zina (fornication or adultery), it's okay as long as they perform ablution in between every such act of sin. From where did these idolaters get such ideas? Why didn't they just keep their filthy gutter talks to themselves? such bastards!

    The Noble Quran categorically states:

"And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - Who forgiveth sins save Allah only ? - and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did. " (4:17-18)

The above Verse and many more similar Verses reject the Hadiths on knowingly repeating the sins and "washing them away with water" everyday.

Beware Hadith followers who are ruining their own souls by following such horrific lies! Beware of Hellfire waiting to roast you empty headed sinful debauches.

  2. I think, Bukhari's student, Muslim bin Hajaj should have been severely punished for intentionally compiling such unforgivable junk in his collection and calling it "sahih."

There was a scholar of Islam named Ubaidullah Sindhi. I don't know muchabout him but one thing he said was so correct. He conceded saying: "I cannot teach Bukhari Hadith to any youngster, or to a non-Muslim because of shame."

  3. "Those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations, save the unwilled offences - (for them) lo! thy Lord is of vast mercy." (53:32)

This is another one of the many verses in the Noble Quran which throws the hadith on ablution washing away sins out of the window!

  4. The teachings of Islam is also of mystical significance, apart from being practical.

    1. Excuse me? This is not Islam. So please do not slander my faith. Islam is spiritual as well as practical. Besides, there's nothing "mystical" about something as illogical as washing sins with water. Period. Repentance isn't like doing your laundry. Piety has a high standard in Islam. No short cuts.

  5. In those ahadith the sins that are supposed to be washed away are minor sins only... Major sin can not be forgiven without asking for repentance and a clean hearted promise to never commit the mistake again... you need to know the distinctions between minor and major sins before giving fatwas on the authenticity of a hadith. .. get your concepts clear first and try to understand the meanings...

    1. First, there's no specification on minor or major sins in that Hadith. Second, even if you want to excuse it by claiming it's minor sins, the lack of logic still persists. Any blunder amounting to a sin or violation - minor or major - cannot be erased by pouring water on your body. Repentance must come from the heart and that sin must not be repeated intentionally. I think Sister Zainab's concepts are clearer than anyone I've read talking on traditional sites. It's their concepts (yours included) that are unclear, murky, which need cleaning up.

    2. @Hafiz Muhammad Aeymon. Please read Abu Huraira's Hadith again quoted in the blog entry. "every sin he contemplated with his eyes .... every sin they wrought will be effaced" and so on. When the false hadith repeatedly says "every sin," yet how do you presume "minor sins" only. Not to mention, even minor sins don't wash off with water like coffee stains on your clothes.
